Evolution (Creekside)

Evolution is a hotel located in the Creekside area of Whistler. Creekside has become one of my favourite spots to stay when in Whistler. It’s outside of the main Village in Whistler but it only takes a 5 minute drive to get to the heart of the Village from here. It’s a nice, quiet area that doesn’t have all the hustle and bustle of the main Village so that appeals to me. If you are traveling from Vancouver to Whistler, Creekside is on your way up to Whistler, just after the Function Junction area.

Evolution is a part of the Lodging Ovations group that owns a few different accommodations in the Creekside area. Legends and First Tracks Lodge are the other hotels in this group. The check in and reception area for Evolution is actually located next door to the hotel at Legends. I have only stayed at Evolution in this group and it was my second time staying here.

Something I really like about Evolution is all their accommodations are suites. All rooms come with a full kitchen with very high end furnishings like Miele dishwashers and fridges. The hotel has undergone major renovations in the last few years. I find the suites are very contemporary and spacious. For this stay, I stayed in a one bedroom suite but I have stayed in the two bedroom suites and they are lovely. The suites here give you enough room to spread out and call it home during your Whistler get away.

One of my requirements for any time I go away is the place has to have a patio/balcony. Evolution does not disappoint and all suites have balconies. I spent lots of time relaxing out here and enjoying the fresh air. It was very peaceful. When I stayed in the 2 bedroom suite, the patio was very large with a variety of patio furniture including beach chairs to lay out on.

This is the creek that I think the Creekside area is named after. I could hear it from our balcony. Its between the Evolution and Legends properties.

The grounds have a pool, two hot tubs and saunas. They have a fitness facility too.

The resort is very kid friendly. There is a media room on site that has a pool table, foosball table and a two Nintendo entertainment stations. In this media room is also a fantastic theater room. There is a large, movie style screen in the room with big, comfy chairs. There are multiple showings throughout the day and the movies are chosen by hotel guests on a first come, first serve basis (there is a list of movies to chose from). So, whoever calls for a specific time slot first gets to choose the movie. All hotels guests are welcome to view the movie, not just who chose it. I did this once and we brought our own popcorn & snacks down. It was so fun.

I am a big fan of staying in the Creekside area during my last few Whistler trips. I really enjoy all the modern comforts that Evolution provides in the tranquil area of Creekside. There is a great market in the Creekside area that we visited for all our essentials. There is a well stocked liquor store, both Tim Hortons + Starbucks and restaurants to eat at. Creekside is quieter than the main Village but there is still plenty there. There are also many lakes to explore nearby like Nita Lake (across the street) and Alpha Lake as well as others. It has quick access to the mountains as the Creekside gondola is here. I highly recommend staying at this hotel. Evolution is a great place to stay for your Whistler stay at any time of year.
