Chocolats Favoris has been making handcrafted chocolate creations in Quebec since 1979. They recently opened their first shop on the West Coast of Canada a few weeks ago in downtown Victoria, BC (1010-Government Street). I unfortunately had to decline my invitation to their grand opening event but they were kind enough to send me a basket of goodies to enjoy.
I didn’t know where to start because everything sounded so delicious!
The dulce de leche chocolate covered pretzels were the perfect mix of sweet and salty. I have never seen pretzels dipped in dulce de leche and I liked the caramel flavour it gave this snack.
I loved the crunchy texture that the quinoa gave the puffed quinoa bar. The dark chocolate in this bar was so ridiculously smooth.
How gorgeous are these chocolates? I love how every single one is so unique and special.
Time to dive in and decide which ones to try first.
The apple pie tasted just as good as it looked.
The pistachio raspberry was loaded with nuts on the outside. I really appreciated that they didn’t skimp on the nut coating.
The maple crunch had a decadent center with the most perfect maple flavour. So Canadian!
Pecan pie had a buttery, nutty filling that is so characteristic of this dessert. I liked all the chocolates in the box but this was one of my favourites.
One of Chocolats Favoris signature products is their ready made fondue. It comes in a variety of flavours and prepackaged in cans. All you do is drop the closed can into a pot of boiling water for 20 minutes. I decided to try the maple vanilla white chocolate fondue with an apple. The apple together with the maple was a great flavour combination.
I also tried the maple vanilla fondue with fresh blueberries. It was a great combo too! Fresh berries and chocolate just go together.
I decided to stick with a classic pairing for the dark chocolate fondue and went with strawberries. These beautiful BC berries were just the right thing for this luxurious fondue.
In the store, they dip soft serve ice cream into your choice of melted fondue. That sounds incredible and it is something I would love to try. Next time I am in the Victoria area, I will definitely be checking out Chocolats Favoris.
