I finally went to Glenburn Soda in Burnaby. I have been following them for a couple years on their social media accounts. Whenever they would post pictures of current specials I would have to stop and admire for a while. This retro pop shop is everything I was hoping it would be and more.
I really liked sitting at the bar and watching everyone work while they made beautiful, hand crafted desserts and drinks.
It was extremely difficult to make a decision here. I actually wanted everything, especially the desserts with peanut butter.
All of Glenburn’s ice creams come from one of my favourite local ice cream producers in the Fraser Valley, Birchwood Dairy, in Abbotsford.
The brownie in their brownie sundae comes from a popular Vancouver bakery, The Last Crumb. It had a huge scoop of vanilla ice cream with choice of sauce, we kept the chocolate madness going with hot fudge. It was crazy good.
Since I wanted to try everything here, I felt a good way to explore their sauces would be through a banana split. Wow. It looked perfect and tasted even better. My favourite from the classic strawberry, chocolate and pineapple sauces was the pineapple. It was such a true pineapple flavour that wasn’t obliterated with sugar. It was so delicious mixing the pineapple sauce with its ice cream partner, vanilla.
I was happy to see they were using only Avalon dairy products. Locally produced milk from the same city, Burnaby!
There are lots of other things to purchase at Glenburn’s like candies, syrups and soda flavourings.
How pretty are these milk shake blenders?? This place couldn’t be any more perfect.
Definitely check their website for their hours as they open after lunch time into the evening and are usually closed Mondays. I will be making up for lots of lost time here. I am so in love with this place.
