Hawthorne Beer Market is located in downtown Cloverdale. Its a sister restaurant to the Washington Avenue Grill (White Rock) and The Vault (also Cloverdale). They are a chic beer loving bistro in the heart of this old town. They have been open for approximately 2 years.
They are a great place to watch Canuck’s games.
Their wedge salad had all the classic flavours you would expect from this salad (blue cheese, bacon and ranch dressing). All the components were nicely done and the salad is not light on cheese. Blue cheese lovers unite!!
The Caesar salad (+ chicken) was beautifully presented. I liked the side of bread instead of croutons. I appreciated the twist.
The Mother Earth pizza had a variety of vegetarian toppings like mushrooms, artichokes, peppers, onions and arugula. I enjoyed the crust and I love arugula on pizza.
My favourite dish of the night was the crispy chicken sandwich. The menu said it came with a whole breast of chicken and it was huge. They achieved a perfect crunchy texture on the burger. The sriracha aioli gave this monstrous sandwich the right amount of spice. All of this was stuffed in between a buttery, brioche bun.
I had a great visit at the Hawthorne and am already researching what I will be getting next time. I hear the dry ribs are delicious as well as the fried chicken & waffles. Whether you are looking for a great meal or to watch the game while drinking craft beers, visit the Hawthorne in Cloverdale.
