Jam Cafe is a super popular all day breakfast restaurant (open til 3 pm). They also serve lunch but I came specifically for their famous breakfast menu. My favourite TV program “You Gotta Eat Here” has featured Jam Cafe in an episode.
I started my breakfast with a lovely chai tea latte, my hot drink of choice.
The Charlie Bowl is the cafe’s version of a hash. It’s one of their most popular items. I ordered the Little Charlie bowl (half order) and I feel like I barely made a dent in it. It’s extremely comforting with hash browns, crumbled homemade biscuits, sausage gravy and cheese topped with 2 eggs. I have no idea how someone could possibly finish the full size Charlie Bowl. They should give a prize for that accomplishment.
You cannot go wrong with ordering eggs benedict in Victoria. The homemade hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy.
Another popular menu item is the pancakes at Jam Cafe. This was their cinnamon cream cheese stack. A lot of people around us were also ordering their red velvet pancakes. It was also a huge dish as you can tell from the photo.
Off of their lunch menu, the King Chicken sandwich comes with fried chicken and lots of bacon.
The soup of the day was chicken corn chowder. It’s too bad it was the special because I think my husband would have come back here everyday to eat more of this soup. He proclaimed it as the best soup he has ever had. I would have to agree, it’s right up there for me too.
Jam was one of the first spots I ate at on my week long Victoria get away. It set the bar high for all restaurants I ate at afterwards. There are lots of breakfast spots in Victoria and Jam Cafe is one of the best.
