I love exploring my province. It has so many different sceneries to offer such as wine country, beaches and mountains. When its time for a vacation, I usually don’t feel the need to leave my province. I recently went to one of my favourite places, Vancouver Island, for a holiday. I stayed in Parksville, which is on the east side of the island. It takes about 45 minutes to drive there from Nanaimo.
This is what the middle of December in BC looks like. It was a great day to take the ferry. We saw some humpback whales diving down into the depths just off the side of the ferry. My husband & I got sprayed with some of the water from their blowholes. That’s considered lucky, right?
There was so much activity in the bay that I saw from this window. It was easy to spend time here.
Two bald eagles in the tree.
I spotted this seal in the water. This picture and the two previous pictures of the eagles were taken from the comfort of our suite.
What a pretty beach sunset.
I enjoyed this beautiful sunset while doing some evening beach combing. I stayed warm with my large, round towel from Tofino Towel Co.
A closer look at the beach towel.
We had lunch at the restaurant on site, the Pacific Prime restaurant. I liked that my grilled ham and cheese had real sliced ham in it and not deli meat. The split pea & ham soup was very tasty.
I had a relaxing time at the Beach Club Resort. I like staying near water when on vacation and the Beach Club provided exactly that. It had spectacular ocean front accommodations in the heart of Parksville.
