Stepho’s is known for quick, cheap, tasty Greek food. They have two locations in downtown Vancouver. The original location is on Davie Street and they have been there for 20 years. Their newer location is on Robson Street. They do not take reservations, first come first serve only. Be prepared to wait if you are going on the weekend at dinner time. Try and catch an earlier dinner if you really want to eat here (before 6 pm).
The kalamari appetizer came on top Greek Salad. I have never had it served to me like that before but I enjoyed having the crunchy kalamari with bites of feta and vegetables.
Saganaki is bubbly, hot cheese served with bread. Make sure to squeeze the lemon over top. It brings a lot of brightness to the cheese.
This dish’s name is in the restaurants name so its a good idea to try their souvlaki. You have your choice in one skewer or two (chicken, lamb, beef, prawn), rice, Greek salad and roasted potatoes. I love the tzatziki here. It’s full of garlic and herbs; just how I like it. My way to eat souvlaki is to dip the meat into tzatziki and then into some feta cheese (I order a side of it).
Stepho’s is also known for their roasted lamb dinner. It’s a very generous piece of lamb that has been slow cooked & roasted. The meat is falling off the bone, so tender.
Stepho’s is a staple in the downtown food scene. The food comes to you very quickly, service is great (lots of their servers have been working there for years) and the price is right. Check them out in downtown Vancouver to get your Greek fix.
