The Fairmont Pacific Rim is my favourite hotel in Vancouver. It is stunning and the service is impeccable. It holds many memories for me as we started our honeymoon here. They get to know you, accommodate your every need, and make you feel special. Even the air in this hotel is different. I have noticed it has floral notes to it. I cannot say enough good things about this special place.
It is coming up on Christmas so their floral shop is in a festive mood.
Admiring the architecture and light fixtures.
Marble on marble. That’s the theme in this gorgeous place.
Afternoon tea takes place in their lobby lounge. Its an open air space just off of where you check in to the hotel. There is daily entertainment here. This soulful singer’s name was Adam Thomas. He played amazing music and did some great covers of Drake, John Mayer & Prince.
The hotel is dog friendly. I spotted this little cutie enjoying the entertainment.
When you start your tea service, all the teas are presented to you. There is a focus on green tea but there are others as well. You can go through and smell them to help you decide.
Your tea comes in your own exquisite pot. They look so authentic. It keeps your tea nice and hot during your time there.
Today’s scones were white chocolate and cherry. They were served with housemade Devonshire cream and a berry compote. We spread the Devonshire cream on everything and dipped the berries into it. If you haven’t had Devonshire cream, the best way I can describe it is think of cream cheese, without all the tanginess. It’s much heavier than whipped cream too. It’s just perfect and one of my favourite parts about afternoon tea.
The sandwiches & sweets are presented in the traditional way. The top layer was sushi inspired with a tofu miso creation, a crab & cucumber, and tuna tataki. The middle layer consisted of matcha cake, macarons (today was mint chocolate), a fruit tart, a chocolate creation, and a financier. The last level consisted of tea sandwiches. There was a delicious tandoori chicken on foccacia bread, prawn, and a classic egg salad.
I have just recently come into liking afternoon tea. It is a great way to relax and not feel rushed. I can be indecisive when it comes to ordering because I want to eat everything and do not want to commit to a large meal. Afternoon tea helps with that because it is many bites of many things. Enjoy high tea at the Fairmont Pacific Rim while you sit back and listen to live music. Tea service is daily from 2 pm- 4 pm.
