Tobiko Sushi quickly became my favourite local sushi place. The price is right, the menu is large and it has a fun atmosphere. The staff are very friendly as well as the owner. They have multiple locations throughout Surrey: Fleetwood, Clayton Heights and Surrey (27th Avenue & 192nd Street.)
The avocado salad is so fresh yet so simple. The dressing is made in house and comes with half an avocado. Such a great way to start your feast.
Agedashi tofu is a must for me when at Japanese restaurants. The crunchy exterior with that soft & warm interior is so perfect. I really enjoy the green onions in this dish. It adds a lot of brightness.
Their chicken katsu is always crunchy & tasty. It comes with their house salad and a side of rice. I like the savoury sauce that is all over the dish.
Tobiko has many creative specialty rolls (top to bottom: caterpillar roll, golden California roll, and smoked Philly roll.) The caterpillar roll has avocado, prawn (garnish), smoked salmon, egg, prawn tempura and mayo. The golden California roll is a cali roll with salmon and special sauce. The smoked Philly roll has cucumber, smoked salmon and cream cheese. It’s a classic flavour combination for a reason.

Their lunch/dinner boxes are very reasonably priced and are my go to when I am in a eat-a-bunch-of-small-things mood (which is a lot of the time, I don’t want to commit to a big meal or one taste!) The box in this picture has chicken teriyaki, a dynamite roll and gyozas. The roll at the bottom of the picture is my absolute favourite roll here, the super tiger roll. It has yam tempura, avocado, imitation crab, cucumber and two special sauces (a mayo based one & a spicy one.)
I always save space for dessert. Tobiko goes beyond the usual desserts you would find at a sushi restaurant. On the left is deep fried ice cream with chocolate sauce and on the right is my favourite, deep fried coconut milk with mango sauce. The combination of mango & coconut is genius. I think they freeze the coconut milk and then deep fry it. I love this dessert and get it every single time.
Tobiko is creative and unique. I always have a good meal when I am here.
